This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how GKCalculators ("GKCalculators", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains and protects information in connection with your use of the website located at gkcalculators.com and all associated sub-pages, calculators, tools, application programming interfaces, embedded widgets and other services we make available (collectively, the "Service"). It also describes the rights and choices available to you regarding your personal information.

We have written this Policy to be as clear and complete as possible. Please read it carefully. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service.

1. Introduction & scope

The Service provides a large library of free online calculators together with supporting features such as AI-generated explanations of results, interactive charts, comparison tools, shareable result links, an optional user account, live cryptocurrency, precious-metal and currency data, and a locally stored net-worth ("Portfolio") feature. This Policy applies to all information processed through these features, regardless of the device or channel you use to access them.

This Policy does not apply to third-party websites, products or services that we do not own or control, even where we link to them or where their content (such as advertising or price data) appears within the Service. Those third parties operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

2. Who we are (data controller)

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and comparable laws, GKCalculators is the "data controller" responsible for the personal information processed through the Service, except where this Policy states that a third party acts as an independent controller (for example, advertising or analytics providers acting for their own purposes). 3. Key definitions

“Personal information” (or “personal data”) means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, to an identified or identifiable individual.

“On-device storage” means data saved locally in your browser (for example via localStorage), which stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless expressly stated.
“Cookies” means small text files placed on your device, and includes similar technologies such as pixels, tags, local storage and software development kits.
“Service providers” and “processors” means third parties that process personal information on our behalf under contract and on our instructions.

We collect information in the following categories. The specific information we hold about you depends on how you use the Service.

(a) Information you enter into calculators

Most calculators run entirely in your browser. The values you type (for example loan amounts, income figures, weight or height, or investment inputs) are processed on your device to produce a result and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers, except where a feature specifically requires it (for example, when you request an AI explanation — see the "AI features" section). Because these inputs are processed locally, you control them entirely and can clear them at any time by resetting the calculator or clearing your browser data.

(b) On-device preferences and Portfolio data

Features such as favourites, recently used calculators, interface preferences, and your Portfolio (net-worth tracker) entries are stored in your browser's local storage on your device. This information remains on your device and is not sent to us. It persists until you clear it through your browser or through in-app controls where available.

(c) Account information (optional)

The Service is fully usable without an account. If you choose to create an optional account, we collect your email address and a password, which we store only in a securely hashed (non-reversible) form. We may also store account-related preferences and, where you enable it, history synced across your devices.

(d) Communications and support

If you contact us through the contact form or by email, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, subject and message content, together with any attachments or details you choose to include, so that we can respond to and manage your enquiry.

(e) Information collected automatically

When you use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including your IP address (which may indicate an approximate geographic region), device and browser type, operating system, referring and exit pages, pages and calculators viewed, the date and time of your visit, and interactions with features. Some of this information is collected using cookies and similar technologies as described below.

(f) Information from third parties

We may receive information from third parties such as analytics and advertising partners (for example, aggregated or de-identified audience insights) and from providers of live market data. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the collection practices of those third parties.

Strictly necessary: to enable core functionality such as page navigation, security, and remembering essential settings. These cannot be switched off in our systems without breaking the Service.

To measure and analyse usage so we can understand what is useful and prioritise improvements and new calculators.
To display and measure advertising, where advertising is shown.
To protect the security and integrity of the Service, detect and prevent fraud, abuse, scraping and other prohibited conduct, and enforce our Terms.

Performance of a contract: to provide the Service you request, including operating your optional account.

8. AI features & how we use your inputs

Certain calculators offer an optional AI explanation of your results. When you request one, the relevant inputs and computed results for that calculation are transmitted to a third-party AI provider that we use to generate a plain-English interpretation and tailored tips. This data is used solely to produce your explanation and return it to you. We do not use your calculator inputs to train our own models, and we ask our providers not to use your data to train their models where such controls are available to us. We recommend you avoid entering sensitive personal information into any free-text field that is sent for AI processing.

9. Live market data & third-party sources

Some features display live or recent market information, including cryptocurrency prices and 7-day charts, precious-metal (gold) spot prices, and currency exchange rates. To provide these features, your browser or our servers may request data from third-party data providers. Those providers may receive technical information such as your IP address as a normal part of serving the request. Market data is provided for general information only, is indicative and may be delayed, and is not an offer, solicitation or recommendation to buy or sell any asset.

10. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We may use Google AdSense and related Google advertising products to display advertising on the Service and to support the cost of keeping our calculators free. Where we do:

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick/AdSense cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to the Service and/or other sites on the internet.

11. Analytics

We may use analytics services to help us understand how the Service is used, such as which calculators are popular and where users encounter difficulty. These services may set cookies and collect usage and device information, generally in aggregated or de-identified form. We use these insights only to measure and improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in the limited circumstances below:

Service providers/processors: with vendors who help us operate the Service (for example hosting, AI explanation providers, market-data providers, analytics and advertising partners), under contracts that limit their use of the information.
Legal and safety: where necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process or an enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of GKCalculators, our users or others.
Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, or sale of assets, in which case personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

Account information is retained for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Contact messages are retained for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and keep records of our correspondence. On-device data (such as favourites, recents and Portfolio entries) remains on your device until you clear it. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

15. Security of your information

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration and destruction — for example, hashing account passwords and restricting access to information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. 18. “Do Not Track” & global privacy signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. There is no universal industry standard for how to interpret DNT signals; where the law requires us to honour a recognised opt-out preference signal such as GPC, we will treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale/sharing of personal information for the relevant browser or device.

19. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the higher minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

The Service may contain links to, or content from, third-party websites and services (including advertisers and data providers).
